After a month of effort talking to Linksys tech support, various authorized dealers and to the shop which sold me the ill fated WRT54GL box, I finally got my dead router replaced today. It is back into service at the VU3RDD station shack.
I also bought an extra 512MB DDR400 RAM and I finally have 1GB of RAM. The rest of the world seem to have 1GB or more already. I can visibly feel the difference with the GNOME, which has caught up with Windows when it comes to memory usage and sluggishness, if not on features.
Softrock build has slowed down owing to many other activities. There are afew other interesting stuff I am working on. I will write about them at appropriate time. I need to buy quite a lot of stuff from the market and I will need to make that inevitable trip to SP Road this weekend.
It almost looks like, DSP is the only solution to the RFI issue I reported earlier. 40m and 20m band are completely unusable here owing to the powerline interference. After going through some painful experience last time, I decided that I won’t talk to the Electricity Board again. It is a waste of time and energy. There is no single person in that entire organization who is knowledgable on RFI issues that can be caused by powerlines.
